From Chief Matt Harshberger, City of Ypsilanti Police Department

I'm holding a special meeting of all NAs and BAs on Monday night (Nov. 20th) at 7 p.m. to discuss the jail overcrowding problem, the jail expansion proposal approved by the county board last night, out-boarding of prisoners at the jail and crime prevention strategies to help deter/prevent the recent spike in property crimes that has occurred in and around the downtown area and surrounding neighborhoods. As you are key representatives of your associations, I would greatly appreciate your attendance and assistance providing valuable insight, input and community support to resolve the many problems that we face. Also, please invite all of your neighbors/association residents as I want to involve as many people as possible in the meeting to get questions answered with accurate information and widespread support generated for solutions to the problems. Thank you.

The meeting will be held on Monday night at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center at Recreation Park on Congress St.
Matt
